French director Jean-Francois Richet (“Mesrine: Killer Instinct”/”Plane”) brings a familiar  Jason Statham formulaic thriller to the star’s usual action-packed pics, with this one being a clear miss. Its hokey story is lamely co-written by J.P. Davis and Lindsay Michel.

The Bangkok billionaire shipping boss Tibu Campallo (Ramon Tikaram) is murdered in an alley ambush and his loyal bodyguard Cole Reed (Jason Statham), a former London policeman, is framed for it by the corrupt police investigators. Cole goes on the run and sneaks onto a cargo ship helmed by the notorious Captain Marko Madsen (Roland Møller, Danish actor) hoping to get whoever killed his boss and to clear his name. He finds on the ship signs of human trafficking in a container holding frightened children and others.

Cole gets unexpected help when he teams up with a mysterious woman, the ship’s third mate, Angie Ellis (Annabelle Wallis), and seeks vigilante revenge for being made the fall-guy. He’s not bashful about busting heads and shooting down the bad guys with either a machine gun or harpoon.

The action-packed B-film is strictly for Statham fans, who crave the action. Statham is fine doing his usual heroic thing, and the visuals are good.
