Josh Greenbaum (“Becoming Bond”/” Strays”) directs a captivating documentary on friendship. Will Ferrell meets his old male friend Harper Steele of thirty years and his writing partner on SNL, who is now at the age of 61 a trans she. He goes on a 16-day cross-country road trip from New York to California with her.
The two relate well to each other, as Will gives his friend unconditional love.
There’s a mix of funny moments along with tender ones.
It’s a crowd-pleasing documentary that shows the power of love and friendship. It also deals with hatred from social media, and being surprised by several pleasant encounters on the road in unexpected places.
It played at the Telluride Film Festival.
