“Uninteresting documentary.”

First-time feature film director Anthony Penta‘s documentary explores the R-rated direct-to-VHS soft-core thrillers that peaked in the ’90s as a substantial part of the video rentals and home viewing market. It featured films such as 9 1/2 Weeks and Fatal Attraction.

After 1994 this trend died out for whatever reasons.

Anthony Penda’s humorless and uninteresting documentary is almost three hours long, with nothing much to say about these guilty pleasure trashy films. I would recommend skipping it.

It played at the Overlook Film Festival.
