In his feature film debut, Brandon Tanburn directs and co-writes with Jean S. Monpere this uneven but earnest rom/com over dealing with an unwanted pregnancy by going to Plan B.
Piper Brennan (Jamie Lee) messes up and has a one night drunken fling with her dorky neighbor Evan (Jon Heder) and becomes pregnant (but fails to tell him this). He adores her but she detests him. He’s immature, a cat lover and as a Uber driver doesn’t have the means to provide her with the financial security she expects. This situation comes at a time when the struggling author is offered a big book deal, and is unwilling to have another abortion to eliminate the problem.
Her cynical Plan B is to locate a handsome rich guy and fuck him, and then claim she’s pregnant with his baby. At the coffee shop where she works as a server, she runs into a hunky regular patron, the investment banker Cameron (Michael Lombardy). Since he fits the bill, they flirt, make a connection and have sex.
Piper tells all this to her rational friend Maya (Subhah Agarwal), who disapproves of her Plan B.
But the kicker is that Piper discovers she really digs Cameron and he’s cool with her.
The silly comedy covers up the unethical Plan B with giggly jokes, as it leads to the improbable conclusion whereby Piper uses this episode to evolve and become a better person. Though I think the viewer might be better off if not seeing such dreck, it’s still watchable.
