“Watchable.”

Indie director Derek Shane Garcia is based in NYC. He co-writes the documentary-like drama with James Mossia and Rosie McDonald. The motivational story focuses on Anna (Rosie McDonald). She’s a travel journalist who is grieving the recent death of her mother (Eva Dorrepaal) and is sent on a job assignment to Martinique (filmed on location). This forces her to reflect on her chaotic life.
While doing research on the locals (all non-actors), she’s moved by their openness. This influences her to begin to freely confront her problems.
The slight story is watchable and should please the curious viewer.
The director and actress show great promise. I look forward to seeing them in the future doing more elaborate films.
It played at the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival.
