“A homage film to both noir and Los Angeles.”

A homage film to both noir and Los Angeles. The popular actor Andy Garcia (“The Lost City”) is star, director, writer, producer and co-composer with Arturo Sandoval.
Joe Diamond (Andy Garcia) is a hard-nosed old time 1940s film noir type of private detective in a contemporary Los Angeles. The wealthy abused widow Sharon Cobbs (Vicky Krieps) hires him to prove she did not kill her tycoon husband.
Diamond deals with the crooked LAPD tipster “Danny Boy” McVicar (Brendan Fraser); the well-connected bartender Jimbo (Bill Murray); the quirky Chinese food lover and bad joke telling coroner Dr. Harry Kleiman (Dustin Hoffmana); the oily gardener Alberto Echevarria (Demian Bichir); Cobbs’ butler (Yul Vazquez); Bruce Tenenbaum (Danny Huston, John’s son) and the sultry mystery woman Angel (Rosemarie DeWitt).
Diamond still prefers rotary phones over cellphones.
It played at the Cannes Film Festival.
