The middling Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola (“What happened to Monday”/”Violent Night”) is the writer-director of this inane and sloppily made shark thriller set in the US but filmed in Australia, with a mostly Aussie cast playing Americans.
A Category 5 hurricane hits the American coastline. In Annieville, South Carolina, Dakota Edwards (Whitney Peak), an agorophobic, observes the destruction of a tanker filled with thrash, offal, and blood, after hit by the big waves, which brings to town some hungry bull sharks. Dakota rescues the pregnant Lisa (Phoebe Dynevor). In another spot, three foster kids-Dee (Alya Brown), Ron (Stacy Clausen), and Will (Dante Ubaldi) must be rescued in their home from both the sharks and their monstrous father Bob (Josh McConville).
If you’re looking for a Jaws-like film, see Jaws. This disaster film is aptly named.
