Indian filmmaker Abhilash Reddy Kankara (“Maa Nanna Superhero”) directs this predictable, overlong, and muddled romantic sports drama about a motocross biker who is out to redeem his and his father’s good names. Kankara co-writes it with MVS Bharadwaj and Shravan Madala. It takes place in India in 1994 and 2003 (there are flashbacks to the 1970s).
Vikas, aka Vicky (Sharwand), is a loving family man, married in 2003 to the photographer Anana (Malvika Nair) and they have an 8-year-old son Ishaan (Shourya). Vicky’s a retired champion motor cross biker, who followed his biker champ father’s (Rajasekhar) footsteps to be a racing biker. Though a loving father, he’s also an irresponsible one allowing his son to be a truant and a poor student.
Vicky, now a mechanic for a motocross school, comes out of retirement to race again in an international competition when his father, who is an instructor at the motocross school after framed for fraud by a crooked motocross corporate sponsor named Indraneel (Atul Kulkarni).
The racing visuals are fine, but the story is dull and cliched. I found India’s first motocross film to be an unimaginative slog to get through.
