An entertaining but standard Arabian Nights adventure tale directed by Nathan Juran (“The 7th Voyage of Sinbad”/”East of Sudan”). It’s co-written as a good-versus-evil story by John Rich and William R. Cox, based on the Rich story. Harun (Rock Hudson) uses the “the magic sword of Damascus.” to avenge the death of his slain father. To do so he rescues the Princess Khairuzan (Piper Laurie) from the meanie Jafar (George Macready) and his son Hadj (Gene Evans). A typical lushly photographed Technicolor film of its era.
