“Makes a powerful statement on the immigration policy in Scotland.”
Reviewed by Dennis Schwartz
The populist political documentary by Felipe Bustos Sierra (“Nae Pasaran”) makes a powerful statement on the unjust immigration policy in Scotland.
On the morning of May 13, 2021, in Glasgow’s quiet Kenmure Street, in the Pollokshields section, an ethnically diverse neighborhood, two Indian Sikhs, who lived in the community for a decade, are forced out of their home by police officers to a parked van that’s marked ‘Immigration Enforcement.’ They are being deported. But word quickly spreads in the neighborhood and a crowd surrounds the van so that it won’t let their neighbors be deported.
It’s a pleasing documentary for freedom lovers, showing how to fight back peacefully against the oppressors. The message is that people should look out for one another and raise their voice against injustice.
It played at the Glasgow Film Festival.
