“Low-budget stylish sci-fi time loop genre story.”
Reviewed by Dennis Schwartz
The McManus brothers, Kevin & Matthew (“The Block Island Sound”/”Funeral Kings”), co-direct & co-write this low-budget, stylish, sci-fi time loop genre story of a woman trying to prevent the kidnapping and murder of her daughter by a serial killer by murdering the killer again and again over different time lines and getting back in time to her time machine box so she won’t be arrested for it.
Irene (Michaela McManus, sister of the directors) travels through the multiverse to eliminate the killer Neville (Jeremy Holm), a short-order cook, of abducting and murdering her daughter. She hopes her action taking place through different time lines will mean her child is still living in one of the dimensions.
She will stop Neville from carrying out the murder of the 15-year-old Mia (Stella Marcus), who has been tied-up in the killer’s backroom. Mia also has a thirst for revenge and partners with Irene going after the killer in different dimensions.
Though the clever pic offers more style than substance, it has Irene eventually question her own taste for revenge which takes away some of her humanity.
It played at the SXSW Film Festival.
